Hi! I'm Ahuva, an enthusiastic reading specialist and teacher who specializes in teaching students with reading challenges. I am Wilson-certified and draw upon PAF and Orton-Gillingham methodologies to improve decoding abilities. I have a B.A in Education and Special Education, and a M.A in Reading Specialist from Teachers College, Columbia University. For the past eight years, I have dedicated my life to helping children find their love for learning, despite developmental or academic challenges. I love watching a child's eyes light up as they begin their reading journey and the smiles on their faces as they finish their first sentence. To accomplish this goal, I address specific decoding, comprehension, and writing skills that target students' areas of need. I currently work as a first and second-grade teacher and teach reading at Lindamood Bell and science at Columbia Teachers College in the summers. I am an incredibly patient, warm, loving, and dedicated teacher who incorporates movement, games, and fun into every lesson. Looking forward to meeting you!
