Amanda is a caring and thoughtful educator. They hold New York State teaching certifications in Early Childhood Education and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Originally from Florida, they moved to New York in 2013 to attend New York University where they graduated summā cum laude with a BA in Classics (Latin & Ancient Greek) and extensive coursework in German. From 2017-2018, Amanda worked for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes where they tutored students ages 5-adult in literacy skills. They graduated from Columbia University Teachers College in 2020 with their MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) PreK-12. Amanda has 4 years of elementary teaching experience, including kindergarten, first grade, and English as a New Language. They are passionate about early childhood education, particularly early literacy and phonics. Amanda is trained in numerous curricula including FUNdations, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, SPIRE, Sounds Sensible, GoMath, and Illustrative Mathematics. They strongly believe in the power of learning through play and multi-sensory activities. They find constant inspiration in their students’ enthusiasm and joy for learning. In their free time, Amanda enjoys riding their bike around the city, learning new languages, and seeing Broadway shows.
