My name is Andrea Burks, and I recently celebrated the completion of my 20th year of teaching. I have taught at the same school throughout my career – P.S. 57 in the Bronx. Throughout my career, I have taught all subjects, with a primary focus on English Language Arts (ELA) for the past 5 years in a departmentalized structure. I’ve consistently received effective or highly effective ratings, demonstrating my dedication and skill in the classroom. My strengths lie in classroom management, building a rapport with my students, delivering instruction to both whole classes and small groups, and crafting and executing small group instruction. I possess a wealth of experience working with diverse student populations, having been a part of an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) team for 19 of my 20 years in education. Additionally, I am experienced in teaching English as a New Language (ENL) students, showcasing my versatility and commitment to meeting the needs of all learners. I absolutely love and have a passion for teaching. I love the opportunity to make a positive impact on my students' lives. Seeing their growth and development, both academically and personally, is incredibly rewarding. I especially enjoy helping them build confidence in their abilities and fostering a love for learning. The relationships I build with my students and the chance to inspire and support them are what make teaching truly fulfilling for me.
