I have taught 3rd grade for the last 10 years. In my classroom I’ve had general education, collaborative learning, gifted and talented students, and English as a Second Language (ESL) students. I previously taught in a title 1 campus. There I was able to work with students of low economical status. In the last 5 years, I’ve been working at a non-title campus. However this campus is an English as a Second Language Campus. We get refugees from Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Japan. I currently teach an ESL/GT/General Education class. For ESL students, I have a very wide variety of students who have been in America for the majority of their life and some that are considered Newcomers with no educational background. I love the diversity in the classroom. It’s so amazing to get to share different filters and traditions in the classroom. I love when my students get that “aha” moment. They become confident in their learning!
