Hello, my name is Caitlin! I have eight years of career experience in early childhood and elementary education with an emphasis in Language Arts. I began my teaching journey in an inner city public charter school in Kansas City, MO- my hometown. I started as a fifth grade ELA teacher, and then I transitioned to third grade where I was the team lead, a mentor to new teachers, and wrote the ELA curriculum with a focus on differentiated instruction and multicultural texts. I implemented Guided Reading in the afternoons where students were placed for specific intervention tailored to their needs. My team and I moved all students from Below Basic to Proficient throughout one school year! This is where my interest in tutoring began. I am trained in components of Orton-Gillingham, the Science of Reading, and hands-on learning. I graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. MIZ! Then, I went on to receive my Master’s degree in School Leadership. I am extremely passionate about early intervention and teaching foundational skills. My hope is that I can build strong relationships and offer teachers, students, and families additional support in creating multi-sensory ways to teach students how to become better readers. Here’s to the journey ahead together!
