Hi my name is Caitlin Ruiz. I graduated from LaSalle University (in Philadelphia) in 2010 with a degree in Mathematics. I continued my education, again attending LaSalle University, and graduated with a Masters degree in Special Education (N-12) and Elementary Education (K-6). I began teaching in August of 2012. I have taught multiple research based reading and mathematics curriculum to students in grades 6-12. Not only have I taught special education, but I also was an IEP case manager as well. I love teaching math, some might find this surprising, because I struggled with math as a student for many years. As a teacher, I now get the opportunity to help students who don't love math, or "get math". I get the chance to turn a strong dislike of math into an understanding of math. I get to share multiple strategies to make students successful. I do all of this by first building strong relationships with students. I do this by bringing authentic enthusiasm to my classroom daily.
