I have taught special education, (including behavior disorders) at all levels. Most recently, I taught alternative high school for ten years. For these students, I used an online curriculum with face to face support. I also supported these students for any regular classes in which they were enrolled. I also hold a K-12 Reading Specialist certification, but am experienced in all subjects except upper level math and science. I'm convinced that early intervention is the key to student growth; early failures create discouraged learners as well as behavioral difficulties. I'm excited for the opportunity to teach 1:1 and small group. I grew up in Connecticut, lived in New York City for quite awhile; I have been in Iowa for a long time. My house can be pretty inaccessible in the winter, making remote work advantageous. During Covid, I was permitted to work from home via Zoom until the vaccines were available. Students got accustomed to this quickly and we all benefitted from the experience. I have six children, all of whom are musicians in one form or another. My youngest is currently touring the country in a little white school bus as Barefoot and Sunshine. Look them up; I'm pretty proud of them!
