I’m a twin mama, poet, runner, dog lover. I’m currently the Middle School Coordinator, Dean of Humanities and teacher at Metropolitan Montessori School on the UWS. I have a range of interconnected teaching experiences including the teaching of science and outdoor education. For the last 17 years I have taught in public schools, at Hofstra University, and in independent schools in NYC. My background is rooted in teaching reading using a multi-sensory Orton Gillingham approach. I am also a writing coach and work with students on everything from building the sentence to crafting a five paragraph essay to engaging in research and academic writing. I believe academic learning is as important as building social emotional skills. Additionally, I am trained as a social justice educator and have taken part in various workshops that ensure my approach is fair, unbiased and culturally sensitive. One fun fact about me is that I’m a published poet and spent many years performing my work on stage. Teaching and tutoring, for me, is a different kind of stage—one where I get to interact with the audience: your child! *Currently only meeting virtually but can start with an in-person session or two if needed *
