MS, M.A. Elementary Education with Focus in Reading
+1 more
I an an Authorized Reading Specialist Trained in Dyslexia Interventions. I have a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Purdue University and M.S. in Elementary Education with a focus in reading from Ball State University. I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading instruction. I have completed LETRS training to further develop the skills I need to help students master the fundamentals of reading. I taught in a public school for twenty years. Most of that time was spent teaching Kindergarten. I taught Developmental Preschool and First Grade, too. I believe that every child is capable of learning and it is my job as their teacher to find what motivates them and to build on that. I believe in building relationships with students and families and teaching hands-on, interactive lessons that are FUN! It is thrilling to watch a young child go from writing their name, to random letters, to words and then sentences. I enjoy being there to coach them along the way. When I am not teaching, I enjoy cooking, reading, knitting (I made 26 hats for my students!) and spending time with family. I look forward to being part of your child's educational journey.
