Bio
Hello, I’m Daniela.
My Orton-Gillingham (O-G) practice focuses on teaching reading, spelling, and writing to children who learn differently. The focus of my O-G training has centered on interventions for dyslexic learners, as well as children who have developmental dysgraphia, ADHD, autism (high functioning), developmental coordination disorder, and/or other neurological conditions.
I have 60 hours of Orton-Gillingham training, several years of experience tutoring elementary-aged children, and 4 years of experience as a Writing Consultant. I offer a unique set of skills given that I am bilingual (Spanish/English) and have a background in Psychology. I will be working towards my doctorate in School Psychology, and have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Business Analytics from the College of William and Mary.
My O-G therapy approach is holistic. I focus equally on academic and emotional outcomes. Academically, I address critical components in literacy and leverage existing data (IEPs, assessments, etc.) to guide my tutoring plan. Emotionally, I leverage affective and supportive instruction to help children develop confidence. My ultimate goal isn’t solely to help your child gain reading and writing skills, but also to awaken their strengths and unlock their potential. More broadly, I strive to help children excel across all facets of their life- at school, emotionally, and socially.
