Danielle has 20+ years in elementary education and teacher training. Danielle holds an MA in Teaching from National Louis University – a degree strategically paired with a certification in Urban Teaching from the Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL) – which uniquely positioned her to serve students and teachers in Chicago Public Schools for nearly a decade. She also has an MA and BA in English from Loyola University Chicago and Western Illinois University, respectively.
Before joining the BA in Urban Education faculty at the University of Illinois Chicago, Danielle was an instructor and field supervisor in Elementary Education in the Teaching and Learning Department at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She holds a Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with principal, elementary education, middle school language arts, and middle school social science endorsements. She served as a school leader in New Orleans’ Recovery School District (post-Katrina) and has a passion for working in low-income urban areas and preparing pre-service teachers to do the same.
