Hello! I am a former seventh grade English teacher and school librarian. I’ve chosen to stay at home with my son, who was born in October, but I still love the world of literacy, writing, and media literacy. I earned my Masters in Secondary Education from the Neag School of Education at UCONN and returned to UCONN a couple years later to complete a 6th year certification in an individualized Secondary English Education program. I focused heavily on secondary and elementary reading classes and my thesis explored a student designed and led unit that my students and I co-created. This inspired my further work with my students to help them become confident readers and writers. In 2020, I moved into the role of our school librarian, which allowed me to support literacy efforts and engagement on a larger scale by working across all disciplines. My work also included research and media literacy instruction to further support and strengthen our students’ comprehension, writing, and critical thinking skills.
