I started teaching as a second career later in my life and have never looked back. I have been teaching in NYC now for the past 14 years, as a Special Education teacher/ Learning Specialist. Currently I am a Therapeutic Learning Specialist/ Tutor and I work with smaller groups and individual students. My first placement was at a public high school in Brooklyn and then I taught at a Charter School in Queens, before my last job as a Learning Specialist at a private school- the United Nations International School in Manhattan. So I have experienced 3 boroughs and many backgrounds and ages- from 5th to 9th grades. Four years ago I also completed a Master's in Counseling because I felt that in order to learn, student's socio-emotional well-being was paramount. All of this has helped me to develop an eclectic teaching style- pulling from my experience as a yoga/meditation practitioner as well as other learning techniques that I've developed over the years. I strongly believe that with confidence, students can accomplish whatever they put their minds to and that my role is to nurture their uniqueness and find out how they learn best. This partnership allows the student to flower and succeed.
