Hi! My name is Heather. I am a special education teacher in New York City. I have been teaching for 12 years and work with the most diverse students in the country. I have degrees in early childhood, special education, and a masters degree in literacy B-6th grade. I love teaching children to read and fall in love with reading. My favorite part of teaching is seeing the smiles on students faces when they understand something that was challenging them. I push my students to think deeply and not give up. I want students to walk away feeling confident and proud. As a special education teacher I give students the proper supports and scaffolds (tools) that will push them toward success. I also foster meaningful relationships with my students, it is important to get to know one another and support them based on their interests. Tutoring doesn’t have to be boring! It should be fun and something your child looks forward to. I look forward to building relationships with the family members as well. As a team we will get your child to reach their goals!
