Hi there! I'm Jacelin, and though the Caribbean sun might not shine on me every day anymore (it's been 30 years in the States!), my passion for education burns bright. For the past 17 years, I've been a teacher, lighting up classrooms in both Chicago Public Schools and now at a private school in Texas. This July, I'm taking my love of learning to the college level, becoming a professor! While I've taught a variety of subjects throughout my career (math, science, programming, computer applications, robotics, and even Freshman Success!), my heart belongs to math, especially for those in junior high, particularly sixth grade. But my qualifications go beyond years of experience. I hold a Bachelor's in Computer Science, a Master's in Computer Network Systems, and a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) from Southern Miss. Why math? Because there's nothing quite like that "Aha!" moment when a student finally grasps a concept. Witnessing their confidence soar and their identity transform from "math student" to "mathematician" is pure magic. When I'm not guiding future Einsteins, you might find me strumming a few chords on my guitar (hey, I know some!), gazing at the stars (astronomy is a huge passion!), or exploring the cosmos in a space simulation game. So, are you ready to unlock the world of math? Let's embark on this learning adventure together!
