I am a lifelong learner with a thirst for knowledge, and passion for sharing that knowledge. I graduated from Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR, United States with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master of Science in Science Education. My education and experience as a teacher has given me a broad understanding of many science disciplines, as well as varied teaching experience, with students ranging from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I firmly believe that students learn best when they are presented with a puzzle or phenomenon to figure out, and given tools they can use to find the solution themselves. I integrate inquiry into all my teaching as much as I am able to. I tell all my students that science is not a collection of facts in a book, to be memorized, regurgitated onto a test, and forgotten. Science is a skillset, a way of investigating the universe around us, of solving problems and finding answers to questions. I know my students learn more of the essential skills of science by doing science than they will by simply reading or listening to science.
