Bio
I love to learn and to inspire others to do the same. I feel that an education offers you so much more than knowledge. It can be a great introduction to things that you never thought you would like, or could do. I also love to do crafts with my children and students to show them education can be so much more than paper and pencil. I try to show them the connection to the world that we live in and how education makes it possible.
Personally, I love spending time with family and traveling and take my dogs on walks around my neighborhood or finding new places to explore. I love meeting new people just interacting with people in general. I like to think that I have made a difference in the lives of the students that I teach and that they love learning because I helped in some small way along their journey.
I currently teach 5th grade math, and I have teaching for 23 years in a public school setting. I have taught math at all levels at various times in my career. I have taught Algebra I and II as well as Geometry in a high school setting. I am currently teaching general education for 5th grade in math. I have also taught taught ELA, science, and history in a middle school for grades 6-8. When I first starting teaching I was a special education teacher and taught multiple subjects and grade levels. I received my undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education, as well as a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Masters Degree
I earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2005. This degree allows me to look at curriculum across grade levels and match what is taught to the state standards, to identify gaps and over laps, and to determine which skills are most appropriate for each grade level. It also allows me to develope the best instruction methods to deliver the material to the students.

Bachelors Degree
I earned my Bachelors Degree in 2001 in elmentary education and special education. These degrees allow me to teach reading, math, science, and social studies to all students in grades k-6. My special education degree has taught me how to differentiate instruction to meet students individual needs.
