I'm a learning specialist and educational therapist (AET) with 20 years of experience as a teacher, tutor, and executive function coach. I love seeing students develop confidence, understand their strengths, and grow to enjoy learning. I have an MS in Special Education with a focus on learning disabilities from UND, and am accredited as an Educational Therapist - Professional (ET/P) by the Association of Educational Therapists. I also hold an MA in Teaching and an AB in History from Brown University. My goal for all educational support work I do is to develop students' autonomy, independence, self-regulation skills, and confidence. I'm trained in: Orton-Gillingham reading support, Hochman and SRSD writing support, using motivational interviewing, and a variety of other strategies for developing student skills using evidence-based approaches. My experience includes supporting students with ADHD, school avoidance, and school-related anxiety. For younger students, I focus on developing students' reading fluency and comprehension, writing skills, and executive function. I also support inquiry-based math skills through 6th grade. For older students, I focus on executive function, writing in all disciplines, and organization and study skills. I currently work with clients in grades 4-12, college, and with adults.

Kate is amazing!!! My 6th grade daughter's reading skills have really improved and her confidence has grown. Kate is a great communicator and is always quick to reply when I have any questions. My daughter says, "Kate is super fun and nice and teaches me a lot in just one session".
