I am a retired public school teacher with certifications in: K-12 Reading; K-12 ESOL; Elementary 1-6 (math/reading/writing/science/history); Middle Grades English I hold a Master's Degree in Education; and my main job title has been: "Reading and Literacy Specialist and Coach" I love teaching and learning! Celebrating success and providing uplifting encouragement are my forte'! My philosophy of education is: help students see what they are capable of. I love private tutoring as it gives the ability to: provide students with agency (ability to have a voice & choice); adapt to their needs; support their growth through targeted instruction; assess their progress and provide constructive feedback in palatable ways. I enjoy partnering with parents/guardians who seek guidance, coaching and support for their learner(s) from an empathetic and experienced educator. Qualities: I am funny, compassionate, sincere, knowledgeable, creative and I teach from the heart. Students deserve an education that will give them access to understanding themselves as a unique and capable individual. My approach is to find and provide strategies and tools that help students gain confidence in learning tasks.
