I'm Kayla! I graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelors degree in marketing and business analytics. After my undergraduate studies, I attended Bank Street College of Education and received my Masters degree in Childhood General and Special Education. I have been an elementary school teacher for the past three years. During my time in graduate school, I learned the benefits of using varied different approaches to teaching and considering the whole child when teaching. This approach enables a teacher to meet a child where they are at and provide them with the support necessary to be successful in the classroom. What I love most about my job is getting to work alongside children in their education journey. When teaching math, I tend to have a visual/contextual approach to when I work with students. I find this allows students to map out and really think about what a math problem is asking of them and it enables them to take the problem step by step. When it comes to reading and writing, I find that having a strong reading base is extremely important because reading is the base of all learning. With reading I find that it is important for children to foster their love of reading through reading texts that interests them and they can relate to. This enable them at first to build the joy and understanding of reading from the start.
