Hi There! My name is Kelly and I am in my 13th year of teaching for the New York City Department of Education. I have taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade. I am currently working as a special education teacher, and I have vast experience working with students with special needs. The majority of my special education experience lies in working with students with mild learning disabilities and executive function needs. I work in a regular classroom with a general education co-teacher and support all students in the classroom. In addition to my Special Education teaching certificate, I also hold certificates in General Education and Literacy. Some of my personal hobbies include reading, writing, traveling, listening to podcasts, and spending time with my family and friends. I strongly believe in developing relationships with the students I teach. If we work together, your child will gain not only a tutor, but also a friend! Tutoring should be fun, purposeful, and increase children's self-confidence. Feel free to ask for a reference to see just how I've done this for past students! I am currently offering virtual tutoring sessions only.

Kelly has been a godsend for my son. My 9 year old son is in the fourth grade and has struggled with writing in school since the second grade. When he was in the third grade, he would go to the bathroom during his writing lesson every day and tried very hard to avoid it. He routinely said that hated writing because he thought he wasn’t good at it. I’m so grateful that braintrust recommended Kelly. She was immediately able to engage him and he liked her and their first session so much. Since Kelly has been working with him, he actually has found joy in writing and he looks forward to their meeting each week. He has become a stronger writer and far more confident. He even started writing his own screen play in his free time just for fun! He has made so much progress and I’m so grateful.

Kelly is a fantastic, warm, patient, and knowledgeable educator. My elementary-aged kiddo took to her right away. In a manner of a few months Kelly was able to pull my kid out of an anxiety math spiral and back to the firm understanding of the subject. Kelly was wonderful to work with and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anybody who's kids need tutoring.
