Welcome! I am so excited that you are here. My name is Kristen and I live in Virginia, in the U.S.A. I received a Bachelors of Science degree from Virginia Tech and a Masters of Teaching degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. I currently hold a Virginia state teaching license for grades preK-6. I have 9 years experience teaching 3rd/4th grades in Virginia public schools. Prior to receiving my Masters degree, I taught and created curriculum for the Science Museum of Virginia. I also currently teach ESL through an online platform to children all over the world. I firmly believe that children have an innate desire to learn and that they need many opportunities to explore their world in a safe and loving environment that is developmentally appropriate for them. I believe children learn by doing, making discoveries, forming connections, experimenting, and actively-engaging in experiences that are interest-driven and child-led. I believe that it is my role as educator to provide those types of opportunities for students; especially through an online platform! I stepped away from teaching in the classroom once I started my family. I am the mom to three sweet little boys and we love going hiking, spending time in the Chesapeake Bay and the Outer Banks, going on daily walks, and Friday night pizza parties.
