MS, Masters of Science in Childhood Education
Hello Parents,
I teach reading and writing development to children, including those with language-based learning difficulties.
I use the Orton-Gillingham approach to train students in phonological and orthographic skills, decoding, and oral reading fluency. I offer Structured Word Inquiry, in which we study the morphemic structure of words: bases and affixes. We learn to Spell Out the Graphemes in words and to identify affixes as we read and spell. We write Word Sums that analyze how words are built of morphemic elements.
I teach grammar and syntax in a structured and explicit manner. We practice sentence composing—learning to combine sentences, phrases and clauses. Additionally, I tutor students in paragraph and essay writing.
It is important to me to foster confidence and creativity in students as they master new skills. Tutoring sessions are in person or by zoom. I am available to speak to you about your child’s needs and to offer a mini lesson in which your child can get to know me and work with me. Thank you.
