Though a degree from Harvard in political science, coupled with 3 internships and 1 full-time job in the corporate world, may indicate otherwise, teaching has always been a passion of mine. At the age of 5, I would line up my stuffed animals and "teach" them what I had learned at TaeKwonDo that day. At the age of 13, I relished the opportunity to be a teacher's assistant at an SHSAT and SAT math camp in Flushing, despite many of the students being older than me. I sought Teaching Assistant and mentorship positions at Dalton and Harvard, and while each position came with its own unique set of challenges, I took great joy in seeing the personal and academic growth of my students and mentees. The son of Peruvian immigrants, there is no doubt that I would not have achieved many of the things I have been to accomplish to this point, had it not been for the quality and patience of my teachers. Pursuing teaching opportunities is my way of giving back, with the core of my teaching lying in establishing real, meaningful connections with my students.
