Hi! My name is Marissa and I have been working as an educator since 2014! My experience spans from volunteering in Vietnam as a teacher and sports coach to teaching second and third grade in New York as a Teach for America corps member. I have taught all subject areas in grades 2 & 3 for years, but I have experience with grades 1 & 4 as well. This includes both ELA and Math test prep for state exams as well as experience with online learning. Additionally, I have experience teaching English Language Learners and students with Individualized Education Plans. I believe all students can be successful and to ensure that, I personalize my teaching to cater to your student's needs! In 2019, I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching with a Dual Certification in both general and special education for grades 1-6. Additionally, I am currently working toward my Master of Education in Psychological Counseling at Teachers College, Columbia University, as I am passionate about holistic youth development and I have hopes to support student growth intellectually, socially, and physically. While I mainly have experience teaching at public schools in NYC, I have the expertise to work with children from a wide range of schools, as I attended a private boarding school called Groton for my high school education and know what it takes to be successful. If you and your student choose to work with me, I promise you high quality teaching centered around open communication to encourage accountability, data to drive student achievement, relationship building to promote holistic growth, and fun lessons to enhance your child's love of learning. I look forward to the opportunity to help your child's brain grow! Thanks in advance for your consideration and your commitment to your child's education :)
