My name is Maureen Flanagan, and I am a math teacher who loves working with students who have learning differences, including ADHD, dyscalculia, and dyslexia. I graduated summa cum laude from Princeton in 2017 with a degree in Economics & Neuroscience, and pivoted from finance to education because I love working with kids and helping them develop their confidence, especially in math. I taught at Spence for two years upon graduating, and am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Elementary Inclusive Education with Gifted Extension at Columbia University’s Teachers College. I believe that all children are capable of learning math, and care deeply about helping them feel emotionally supported as they’re growing in this area. My neuroscience background and the connections I build with students help me design deeply personalized lessons that are tailored to my students’ unique learning styles. I have experience working with students from the elementary to college level on classroom math and science skills, and also provide test prep for the ISEE, SAT, and ACT. In addition to supporting students with learning differences, I also offer enrichment tutoring, which helps students build critical thinking skills and extend learning beyond what is presented in the classroom.
