I have a master's in elementary education, and a bachelor's in English from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. I am currently licensed in the state of North Carolina for K-6 and 6-9 grade English. I have 5+ years in the classroom, between Virginia (U.S.) and Quebec (Canada), as well as virtual teaching and tutoring on other platforms. I'm currently homeschooling and teaching virtually. My various experiences in education give me a good understanding of how to meet a child's individual needs. I have written curriculum. I have worked with children of all types of special needs, especially autism. I have worked with English language learners. I love teaching through stories because stories capture the imagination at the deepest levels and help us make connections in context. I have a passion for teaching children early literacy skills and helping them crack the code to reading! I aim to make each student feel seen, known, and accepted, which I believe every human being deeply craves. I also believe that everyone, of all ages, learns better when they are having fun! I am looking forward to meeting your child! Mirey
