I’m an educational specialist and dyslexia practitioner with over 20 years of experience in education as a psychologist, teacher, and tutor. I have experience teaching emergent readers, older readers, and students with learning disabilities. My goal is to foster positive thinking in my students, who often find they are capable of more than they thought possible. I have a Psy.S in School Psychology, an MA in Liberal Studies, and BAs in English and Psychology. As a school psychologist, I evaluated students to determine the underlying causes of their learning difficulties and helped develop intervention plans that addressed their weaknesses. I also counseled children who struggled with depression, anxiety, and executive function skills. In 1999, I was the Kentucky School Psychologist of the Year. As a dyslexia practitioner, I’ve had a lot of success using the structured multi-sensory Wilson Reading System, an Orton-Gillingham based program. My sessions focus on improving phonemic awareness, decoding, high frequency word reading, fluency, and comprehension by using visual, auditory, and kinesthetic-tactile techniques. I love guiding students along their reading journey and seeing them gain confidence as their skills improve. I currently work with grades 1-6.

We've been working with Rebecca for a number of years and without her, our son wouldn't be where he is today reading-wise. He has dyslexia and has struggled since a young age, but given Rebecca's knowledge and training in this space, she's helped him improve his reading and comprehension. He has improved dramatically and while he still struggles, he is more confident in the classroom. Rebecca is a great communicator, flexible and understands the needs of our child. And luckily, my son enjoys working with her even though he's not a fan of reading. I can't say enough wonderful things about Rebecca!

She is so kind and friendly and makes it fun with games. I never thought my daughter would want to go to tutoring right after school, but she LOVES it! Rebecca is excellent and I’ve seen great improvement even just after the first session! I highly recommend
