Personal information
Bio
I became a Texas certified elementary teacher when my children were young. I taught public school and I have volunteered as a tutor in different capacities. My passion is teaching elementary students to become successful readers and to become accomplished with basic math skills. I left the public school system to teach my own children until they both graduated from high school and began college. Later, I returned to college to become a licensed Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA). I chose that field because it allowed me the opportunity to work with children one-on-one or in small groups, as opposed to large groups in my previous public school classrooms. While working as a pediatric SLPA, sadly I have encountered many children that lack basic reading and math skills. This has reignited my desire to work with children in those areas as a tutor. My personal approach involves support for the child, as well as for the family, building confidence, and providing a safe and encouraging environment where learning can take place and children can grow.
