Sarah Buckalew is a Mandarin Teacher at a private high school in Wicker Park, but also has a background in ESL, TESOL, and EFL. She received her Master's degree in Chinese Studies from The Ohio State University and is considered a near native speaker of Mandarin. She also has taught English to all ages through the Peace Corps, the English Language Fellow program, and in various teaching roles in the States. She loves being a teacher because one of her goals is to equip the next generation to thrive in a globalized world. She also loves to incorporate a goal of social justice into her teaching, and encourages her students to use Mandarin and English in community service projects around Chicago.
