Bio
Shana Small is an educator whose enthusiasm for teaching was sparked at the young age of six. She currently holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Welfare, from the University at Albany, and a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, obtained from Relay Graduate School of Education, alongside her NYS Professional Certification.
Throughout her upbringing, she was unaware that her passion for teaching and learning would ultimately lead her to pursue a career in education. She initially embarked on this career by completing two AmeriCorps programs: City Year and Reading Partners. Both positions provided the opportunity to partner closely with classroom teachers, facilitate small group instruction, and manage a literacy center.
The next two years of her career were dedicated to teaching second grade students, but she subsequently developed a passion for instructing Kindergarten students, where she has successfully taught for the past five years.
Shana is passionate about educating students and helping them grow socially and emotionally. She is excited to embark on this new journey as a Braintrust tutor.
