After graduating from Northeastern University, Shelby followed her heart to New York City. It is there she found her passion for working with students. Shelby is motivated by using a strength-based approach and tailoring each and every lesson to be meaningful for the student. It is essential to Shelby that the student learns and grows, but also that they enjoy doing it! Shelby recently graduated from New York University, where she is got her master’s in childhood education and special education. Shelby is dual certified in Childhood education grades 1-6 and Special Education grades 1-6. Before starting at NYU, Shelby taught 3rd grade at a Charter School in the Bronx. Her classroom had impressive scores on both the ELA and Math state exams, with over 90% of the students passing both. Shelby has also worked in various NYC public schools throughout Manhattan, providing 1:1 support in math, social studies, and reading.
