I grew up in Houston, Texas, and studied Radio-Television-Film at the University of Texas at Austin. I come from a family of educators, so it was just a matter of time before I fell into it myself. My whole family's year starts in September and ends in mid-June, and I couldn't shake the habit. I started as a substitute teacher in the Austin Independent School District, moved to LA, and subbed for LA Unified, but I found my home subbing for private schools. I eventually acquired a full-time middle school English teaching gig, and I loved it. I taught for 12 years before taking a 6-year hiatus to pursue other endeavors, including copywriting and tutoring. I eventually went back to teaching English part-time and continued tutoring my clients. Tutoring is special to me because I get to know a student and watch them grow. My philosophy is that you shouldn't need a tutor forever. My job is to help students acquire the tools to be self-sufficient learners, but I'm always here if extra support is required.
