The most favorite moments are those in which I am learning or helping someone else learn. Fortunately, most of my life has been full of favorite moments! I have always been an educator at heart. My path has not been traditional, but it has been rich in depth and experience. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The Ohio State University in International Studies, I began my career oversees. I was hired by Harima Junior High School in Japan almost 25 years ago. This was the beginning of my career in education. Since that time, I have been teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) for multiple agencies and businesses to a multitude of ages - preschoolers to upper level managers. When I returned to Japan, I organized an after school program for at-risk teens and provided tutoring services as well as mental health support. This program was provided to 6 school districts in rural Ohio. When this position ended, I returned to school and received a Masters in Human Development from the University of Dayton, Ohio. I returned to teaching ESL as well as adding Reading, Writing, and Language Arts support to non-ESL students. As my students grew up, I also began to dig in and learn more about the college prep process. I have been coaching students through the English, Reading, Science, and Writing portions of the ACT College Test as well. As the time has passed, I have found that I enjoy working online just as much as in-person. I have learned that our children are bright and curious, and with the right support, they can and will flourish. The goal is to locate the tools & people to make that happen!
