Every child is entitled to a customized learning experience that meets his or her unique needs and includes social and emotional support, which in our current environment is perhaps more important than ever. I have the breadth of experience and wisdom to provide your child with the education they deserve. After fourteen years as a classroom teacher, I became a tutor. In that capacity, I have engaged in homeschooling, one on one tutoring, and small group instruction both in person and virtually. As a teacher, I earned the highest HEDI rating of Highly Effective, which is based on the performance of my students on the New York State exams since the inception of that metric and that success includes a vast array of learners including students with disabilities. Sixteen of my former students have earned scholarships to private prep schools. I came to teaching through the New York City Teaching Fellows and was sent by that program to Mercy College for a masters degree in urban education. In addition to teaching grades four through six, I also taught a course in 21st Century Literacy, ,exclusively using technology to teach literacy, at my school in East Harlem. Prior to becoming a teacher, I ran a telecommunications company and was a practicing attorney in both New York and New Jersey. In addition to Mercy College, I received degrees from The Ohio State University and St. John’s University School of Law. As I reflect on my various careers, I have concluded that there is nothing more noble than changing the trajectory of a young person’s life. Making a young person believe that they can take on any challenge that comes their way empowers them in a profound way that will follow them for the rest of their lives.
